It's a speculative render by an artist, but we love the design direction of this custom Ford sedan.

As the world is abuzz with excitement surrounding the upcoming 7th-generation Ford Mustang, it's easy to see why the car is perhaps destined to be a success before it has even released for sale.

Along with the outgoing Dodge Charger and Challenger, it will be one of the last chances to get a V8-powered pony car or muscle car before everything goes electric.

So with a little more time to spare knowing we can still buy a gasoline-powered Mustang, let’s have a look at that new Ford Mustang design transplanted onto a sedan shape – courtesy of the K Design AG Instagram account’s recent render.

It might be equal parts controversial and awesome depending on where you stand on a 4-door sedan Mustang, but it would certainly be one of the best-looking sedans available if it was available.

V8-powered sedans are a dying breed, but with the pony car returning endowed with a 5-liter V8 making more power than before it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to modify the body for more practicality.

Here, the artist uses the Chinese Lincoln Zephyr as a base and modifies it using details from the upcoming S650 Ford Mustang.

With the profile remaining similar to the Chinese fastback sedan, it retains a shape similar to the Jaguar XF but the front now incorporates the new Mustang design.

On the side, the wheels are black Mustang rims with blue brake calipers and the whole design looks more exciting than the Zephyr thanks to the Mustang’s signature features.

Utilizing the Chinese Lincoln Zephyr’s rear, it still retains the Jaguar XF-style lip and rear shape, but the Mustang-style lights give the car a familiar and attractive feel.

It is a modern Mustang with 4 doors and a fastback sedan trunk – a car many would perhaps not be a fan of, and a car which many would surely also approve of thanks to its practicality.

In addition, the rear lights and styling are uncannily like the French company Peugeot’s 508 sedan, although most likely no one will be making that comparison.

So, a speculative render of a future not to come, with all the hallmarks of the great new Ford Mustang style and a smattering of Jaguar and Peugeot design make this a unique piece of digital art.
