Every self-storage manager will eventually need to cut a lock off of a unit door, but the industry has done such a good job at promoting the security of disc locks over padlocks that this once simple task has become more challenging. In this video, facility owner Drew Pearson of Pearson Partners demonstrates the way to properly cut off a disc lock using an angle grinder. He shares safety tips, insight on where and how to cut, and proper technique to execute the job quickly. It may take a few tries to get comfortable, but then let the sparks fly!
